Alex (Big Al), ONYX

“Big Al” was one of the original Pawdemonium team members. He raced until September 2006, shortly before being diagnosed with a tumor that affected his breathing.   Alex was the elder statesman of the team and kept the younger dogs in line. It’s a tribute to Alex’s love of racing that he raced as well as he did despite being cross-eyed. In fact, Alex was the first ONYX in northern California as well as the first black lab in northern California to reach that level. We will miss him.
